The Clarence-Rockland Recreational and Cultural Complex adds another
compelling reason to stay in our great city. We – rural and urban
residents, our children, seniors, and young families – live here
because we understand the many advantages of living in a smaller
community. We want a safe and clean environment, good neighbours,
wholesome activities, and to be part of an involved and caring community.
A committee was formed in 2001 – made up of representatives from
cultural organizations, all of the school boards, and members of
local sports organizations – representing both the rural and urban
members of our community. This committee voiced the needs and wants
of the community: a recreational and cultural complex.
The committee identified the YMCA-YWCA organization as ideally suited
to run the recreational facility, and the Conseil scolaire de district
catholique de l'Est ontarien expressed its willingness to provide
land, and invest in the library and recreational facility. The partners
have each demonstrated their commitment to the success of the Community
Complex.
